Course: Scratch Basics

Ages: 6-9 (Jr 3 to Jr 4)
Overview: Scratch Basics supports the development of personal connections to computing by drawing upon creativity,imagination and interests Developed by MIT the curriculum will ensure that students understand how to fully utilize the elements contained in the Scratch Editor.

Ages: 8-15 (Jr 5 to F 3)
Python is a high level language used by computer programmers in leading companies like Amazon, Instagram and Facebook.Students will learn to code in Python and will be able to use Python to create micro apps and games on the computer.

This activity is conducted off school premises at Country Club, students are transported to the club via teachers and parent volunteer cars. Students are required to wear their PE shirt or Burgundy Tigers T shirt and an appropriate bottom either shorts, tennis skirt or tights. If the student has her own racket she may bring it however, rackets are provided by the club. There is no Rosewood teacher supervision at the club the students are under the supervision of the tennis club teachers, however, please note these teachers are always in training sessions so students are not supervised before and after their hour session so please be prompt in picking up your daughter.
ICT
Intro to Programming and FIRST® LEGO League

Time: Thursday 2:30 – 3:30
This club will be an introduction to computer programming using block programming as well as an introduction to FIRST® LEGO League. Programming knowledge learnt here will be applied to the FIRST® LEGO League 2019/2020 challenge season which starts in October. Students will be introduced to basic block programming and LEGO EV3 Robotics as well as given a previous FIRST® LEGO League season’s project to work on together during the club as well as working on Core values which include teamwork, innovation and awareness of our impact on the world.
About FIRST® LEGO League:
Every year, FIRST® LEGO League releases a Challenge, which is based on a real-world scientific topic, such as climate change, hydrodynamics and endangered species.Each Challenge has three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and the Core Values. Teamsparticipate in the Challenge by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field (Robot Game), developing a solution to a problem they have identified (Project), all guided by the FIRST LEGO League Core Values.

PRESTIGE VOCAL ACADEMY

- All payments will still be made at the school office but the parent must place payment in an envelope with the student/s name, amount and date paid.

HOMEWORK CENTER
Mrs. Sarah Corbie will be facilitating the HW center for upper Arbor along with Jnr 3 and Jnr 4 of Rosewood. These classes are from 2-3pm for a cost of $50 per session.
Mrs. Debbie John will be facilitating the HW center for Jnr 5 and Jnr 6 of Rosewood. These classes are from 2-3:30pm for a cost of $65 per session.
*The Homework Center will commence on the second week of each term and end on the second to last week of each term.
